A holiday concert honoring the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, on the seasonal, timeless theme of peace.

Daron Hagen's historic new work Everyone, Everywhere – a Cecilia commission and world premiere – weaves moving passages from the Declaration together with the words of human rights luminaries Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Eleanor Roosevelt, and others. Hagen’s cantata is paired with Ralph Vaughan-Williams’s impassioned Dona Nobis Pacem in an evening of music that brings the world we seek into view.

In honor of the event, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk and U.S. Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Human Rights Council Michèle Taylor will offer spoken introductions.

Participating choruses include New York City All City High School Chorus (Kristy Jung, Director) and Every Voice Concert Choir children’s chorus (Nicole Becker, Director)

The Tanglewood Music Center Vocal Fellows will perform a concert of works by J.S. Bach including Cantata No. 133, "Ich freue mich in dir" and Cantata No. 20, "O Ewigkeit, du Donnerwort. Gabrielle will sing the alto aria in Cantata No. 133.

Tanglewood Music Center Fellows will perform a chamber music concert. Gabrielle will perform “Ansturm” and “Erntelied” from Alma Mahler’s “Vier Lieder.” Other selections on the concert include works by Loeffler, Gubaidulina, George Lewis, and Brahms.

Gabrielle Barkidjija won First Place in the Rochester International Vocal Competition. The competition celebration will be live-streamed, and will feature videos of arias sung by each of the 10 finalists. Gabrielle Barkidjija will present “Werther, Werther…Ces Lettres” from Massenet’s “Werther.” Link to be published here at a later date.

Gabrielle will be singing the role of Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte with the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival along with the other Detroit Opera Resident Artists. The performance will be conducted by Francesco Milioto.
